Forever Autumn

Whilst for some, the summer has only just begun, here at Kearline Invites & More we are looking forward to Autumn/Winter.

Weddings during this period tend to be less popular due to the cold and wet and shorter days, however some brides prefer this time to get married as it is cooler, so no risk of sweatiness and make-up sliding off.  Also off-season weddings are cheaper for the budget conscious bride.

Autumn is the time when Wedding Fayres start up again.  As usual Kearline will be hosting a table at some of these events.

Don't forget that we are always here (Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm) to help you with your wedding stationery, whether you know exactly what you want and need, or if you are completely in a quandary, do not hesitate to call us.

We hope to see you at some of the Wedding Fayres later this year.

It's not unusual...

It's becoming the 'norm' these days for brides to want 'unique' weddings.  Over recent weeks we have been involved in creating the wedding stationery for a couple who are having a 'Festival' wedding, which they are calling 'Wedstock'.

How did I get in this field?

We also recently had a bride who had a Peacock theme for her wedding stationery as her groom's surname was Peacock.  She had lovely Peacock feathers and we were able to include them in her invitations.

If wellies in a field doesn't sound like your kind of wedding, what about a Steam Punk wedding?  Steam Punk has become a big thing over the past few years, and what could be more fun than mixing Victorian fashions with modern styling?

Anyone up for some Fable cosplay?

How about a King Arthur inspired wedding?  Round tables, bride in a lovely greensleeves' empire-line wedding dress with flowing tresses, and flowers in her hair.

I thought Green Sleeves was a song

What about a 1950's themed rockabilly wedding?  There are some lovely coloured rock n roll dresses out there now.
I love Rock and Roll so put another dime in the jukebox baby..

Or how about an Alice in Wonderland inspired wedding?  There's plenty to choose from, from the Mad Hatter's Tea Party to the Queen of Hearts.

She looks mad as a hatter...oh..

However you choose to get married, whether traditional or eclectic, Kearline Invites & More are here to help you with all of your wedding stationery.

We had a successful wedding fayre at Canada Lodge on Wednesday evening, but if you missed us there have no fear we will be at the Holiday Inn on Chepstow Road, Newport, on Sunday 23rd February 2014.

We hope to see you there, or if you can't make it, please call or email to make an appointment to discuss your stationery requirements.

Hmmm... It's a bit small

Thank you very much for the very nice china...

Thank you!

It's easy to say when it's only a couple of people, but what happens when hundreds of people come to your wedding, and most of them have given you a gift?

Firstly, enjoy your wedding and worry about the presents later.  Then sit down with your new spouse and make a list of every gift and who the gift giver was.  Don't forget to include people who gave you money instead of a physical gift!

Then pick up the phone or send an email to us at Kearline Invites!  We can make your very own Thank You cards for you to send to your gift givers.  Whether you want cards to complement the original invitations you sent out, or if you would prefer something completely different, we can cater to your needs.

The beauty of Thank You cards is that it is less stressful than choosing invites, but the sentiment is still there - you think enough of the guest to sit down and write a card specifically thanking them for their gift and their presence (excuse the pun) at your big day.

If you would like to discuss your own Thank You cards, or any other wedding stationery please call us or email us to make an appointment today.  Alternatively you can come to see us this Sunday (29th September 2013) at the Marriott St. Pierre Golf & Country Club, Chepstow, South Wales, or Sunday 6th October at Tesco Store, Spytty Retail Park, Spytty, Newport, South Wales.

Don’t Tell The Children

It’s a bone of contention at weddings – adults want to be able to let their hair down without having to worry about being appropriate in front of someone else’s children, while some parents would love a grown up night away from their little monsters.  On the other hand some parents find it hard to get a babysitter, and would prefer to bring their children.  Of course the bride or groom might have younger relatives who may be upset that they can’t attend a wedding.

Weddings are a minefield whatever you do.  Here at Kearline Invites & More we want to help you take some of the stress out of asking family and friends to not bring their children to your wedding.

So how do you go about letting them know in advance that this will be an adults only day?  A lot of couples now choose to include this information in their wedding invites.

Tacking on a line at the end saying “No Children Allowed” is not a good idea, this will annoy your guests and cause more arguments than it solves.

We have had several brides who have chosen not to have children at their weddings.  The following are  two examples of wording you might use on your invitations.

Children
The only children at our wedding will be our Bridesmaids and Ushers, we are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

This is good if you will be having younger close relatives or possibly your own children attending as part of the bridal party, making it clear that these will be the only children allowed at the wedding.  However, there is always the possibility that someone will choose to bring their children based on the fact that you are allowing some children to attend.

Parents please note:

It is our wish to have an adult-only celebration.
We hope that this advance notice means that you are still able to share our big day.

This is a very friendly way of saying that you do not want children to attend your wedding.  It states that only adults will be attending, thereby giving notification to parents that they will need to arrange a babysitter.  There is no ambiguity in this one  - it states that no children will be attending.

We can help you with all aspects of the wording of your wedding stationery.  For more information please contact us using any of the methods below.
